Tour Reviews
I’ve been SUPing for a number of years and am always looking for new adventures and skill advancement. Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Tina Currie. She’s a fantastic guide and instructor with tons of knowledge, a safety first and encouraging attitude, and a calm, reassuring presence. I did a couple of coffee runs and an estuary tour with her last year, and thoroughly enjoyed those experiences, so much so, that I’ve returned this year to have Tina instruct me on down winding. I’ve had three sessions with her so far and have learned a great deal, (I seriously don’t know how where she keeps all that info that’s in her head!) progressed with my stroke and have had load of fun. If you’re looking to progress with your paddling, or experience the Howe Sound area fully I highly recommend any of the above experiences I’ve mentioned. Tina rocks!
Howe Sound Inspo!
Thank you Tina, for sharing your passion, energy, wisdom and knowledge of the human body to develop my paddling skills and safety awareness for exploring this very special part of the world.
Each time I’ve come away stronger on the water and had uber fun out there with you.
So magical to see and experience all of this life within Howe Sound and the Salish Sea.
Stoked to explore more with you! Oceans of Gratitude…
I went for my first paddle today with Tina and it was incredible!! As someone who has a lot of ocean and lake paddling experience I wanted to get some pointers on the local area as I haven’t paddled out of howe sound area before. Her knowledge of the sport, the area and the water was exceptional and we had an absolutely amazing paddle. Can’t wait to go back!
I joined the inaugural Reflections on Water yesterday, guided by Tina Currie and facilitated by Jody Radtke. It was exactly what I needed…being on the water in the early morning, a wonderful small group of humans, grounding exercises, thoughtful journal prompts, silent paddle time, and tips on paddling technique and water safety. I came away with some new personal insights that I had been hoping for. Thanks for creating such a rich experience of paddling, reflecting and connecting.
I can’t stress enough how amazing and worthwhile the coastal stoke pass is. For the price, this is the best value I have ever received from any outdoor/guided course. Tina is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. She is dedicated to ensuring people have the skills and knowledge to get out on the ocean safely. In one summer I went from being a complete beginner to having gained technical skills with my paddling and enough knowledge to explore coastal waters, both in Howe Sound, and other areas of the province on my own. I will 100% get another pass so I can keep learning from Tina and the other guides at NHX!!
I cannot say enough good things about this pass! Firstly, out of all the outdoor courses I have taken, the Coast Stoke pass is by far the best value. Tina is incredibly thorough and her passion for paddling, ocean safety, and the natural environment is evident in all that she does. She is an inspiring person to paddle with and learn from. In one season I went from not knowing much about paddling and ocean safety to feeling confident both in our local Howe Sound and exploring other areas of coastal BC independently. I will be definitely be getting another pass next season so that I can continue to grow my skills and knowledge!
What started as a casual Howe Sound tour, has developed into a love for coastal exploration and adventure. Highly recommend the Intro to Stoke to learn all of the basics you need to paddle safely and efficiently and the CoastalFit Program to physically challenge yourself and improve your mobility. There are so many opportunities within this company to continually develop your skills – from one day certifications to multi-day expeditions and retreats. Their team of instructors and guides are experienced and knowledgeable, and always a lot of fun!! The Coastal Stoke Explore tours are a great way to meet new people and disconnect from every-day life!!!!
Paddling in the ocean is a different episode all together and the instructors at NHX are great to train you well. Jen and Rusty are good at what they do and were very supportive of my skills as a beginner and answered all my questions. Special thanks to Tina! I would highly recommend taking the Intro to Stoke even though you would have had previous experience with stand up paddling in the lakes.
