Tour Reviews
My friend Lisa found this fantastic trip with Norm Hann. Lisa is an incredible nature photographer. She and I share a passion for bears. I had never seen a spirit bear before but we did on this trip! We spent one day with Marven Robinson and his crew observing the bears catch and feast on salmon. Marven has years of experience with the bears. He truly loves his job which made the day so special. We spent the other days on the stand up paddle boards with Norm, exploring the beautiful coastline, whale watching ( saw many humpbacks), and learning about the natural environment and traditions of the incredible Gitga’at people. I had only been on a SUP a few times before but under Norm’s guidance, soon felt very comfortable in the water. Norm also really loves Hartley Bay and wants everyone on his trips to have a great experience while making it their own.
Marianne Sabadish
This was a trip I would do again and again. Although this is not a dedicated paddle board trip we took advantage and paddled a few days. Norm made sure we were comfortable and we paddled in calm waters and provided valuable instruction. He also made sure we were on boards we were comfortable with. This was my third trip out of Hartley Bay and Norm introduced us to magical places I had not seen before. We spent a day with a Spirit Bear and paddle boarded with sea lions, seals, salmon, a black bear and many other species. My friend Marianne spent a morning fishing. There are humpbacks everywhere (The ferry even stopped for some whale watching on the ride from Prince Rupert). The special advantage of this trip is that he customizes it to make it yours. We learned about the Gitga’at Territory and stayed with a wonderful family that made us feel at home after days filled with adventure.
Absolutely a phenomenal trip experience! This is a fantastic time of year to visit the Great Bear Rainforest for incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. A highlight of this trip is the Spirit Bear viewing with Marven, it is a profoundly moving experience to watch these majestic animals as they hunt the rivers for salmon. Our small group felt so very welcomed staying with the Hill family in Hartley Bay. The wonderful traditional foods they prepared for us and their generosity with sharing their stories added so much to the cultural experience of this trip. Norm provides exceptional guiding for any activity in this spectacular area, SUPing, Wildlife viewing, photography, fishing or whatever you would like to do during your customized adventure.
