Paddle surf remote breaks, live amongst the wolves, and feast from the sea.”

A new trip for 2020, Norm Hann Expeditions is excited to partner with Raph Bruhwiler and Ground Swell Adventures to offer a remote four day paddle surf and adventure trip aboard the 75 foot YAG Badger. Our 4 days will be spent exploring the west coast of Nootka Island in search of waves to paddle surf. With the numerous breaks on Nootka Island we will search out waves that will provide enjoyment and fun and will match the level of our group. There is no better person in Canada to lead this trip with me than Raph Bruhwiler, a professional surfer and Tofino local who has spent his lifetime exploring remote surf breaks on the coast of Vancouver Island. Raph not only guides surfers from around the world but works full time as a rescue specialist with Canada’s Coast Guard.

Our mothership is the 75 foot YAG BADGER 319 which was built in 1955 in Victoria B.C and operated as a training vessel for the Canadian Navy. It is a beautiful, well appointed wooden boat that will be set up in Nootka Sound and in close proximity to the surf breaks. The Yag’s captain  is surfer and guide, Ryan Cameron who will be joined by professional photographer and chef Douglas Ludwig to round out our team. The YAG is accompanied by a high speed 22 ft Aluminium boat that gets you to the surf breaks and other attractions to explore around the area.

This will be a unique, fun and safe trip in the company of experienced guides and good people that will provide the opportunity to connect with this beautiful section of the coast while having remote surf breaks all to yourself. This trip is one of the quintessential Canadian coastal experiences and we are looking forward to having you join our group.
