SUP and Paddling Gear Rental – $75 (limited supply)
Includes: Pizza and Beverages at the end of the tour. Transportation from Ocean River to East Sooke
Transportation: Meet at Ocean River Sports and we will transport you and your board/equipment.
Prerequisites: Before taking this clinic, you should have completed Advanced Flatwater Stand Up Paddling certification or have equivalent skills and experience. Specifically, you should be able to paddle a distance of 20- 25 km. For your safety and enjoyment, and for the safety and enjoyment of others in the program, please ensure you enter the clinic with the prerequisite knowledge, skills, and experience. If you’re interested in gaining more ocean SUP touring experience while enjoying the incredible coastal terrain of Southern Vancouver Island, then join Norm Hann and Ocean River Sports for our exploratory SUP trip on Juan de Fuca Strait. This paddle will improve your coastal touring skills and decision making for paddle boarding on oceans and coastlines, and will be a great opportunity to build experience and set the proper foundation for multi-day SUP expeditions. We focus on ocean safety, weather forecasting, trip planning, and navigating through tides and currents while enjoying the scenic terrain of coastal BC. This is your opportunity to increase your ocean confidence and to have fun under the expert guidance of qualified paddling instructors and guides. This will be a fun, long day out on the water and will be a great opportunity to build some experience on your touring board.
- Touring/Downwind/ Inflatable touring board
- Full jacket PFD, no waist belts PFD’s
- Drysuit, full wetsuit (minimum 4/3 mm) or Immersion type paddling gear (Vaikobi)
- Broad-brimmed sun/rain hat and/or neoprene scull cap
- Keeper strap for glasses/sunglasses
- 10-15L dry bag for day trip touring gear with spare clothes
- Packed Lunch (that you can eat while on the water)
