  • 1:00 – 3:30pm – Session 2: Defense Islands Paddle, Meet at Porteau Cove
  • 3:30-4:00pm – Feedback/Wrap UP

Day 2:

  • 8:30am meeting at Squamish Adventure Center
  • 9:00am-2:30pm – Full Day Paddle Tour

The Advanced Flatwater Instructor Professional Development Clinic allows active instructors to maintain their instructor certification. The principle focus of the development clinics is the enrichment of instructor skills and to ensure instructors are using the best current practices. This professional development will take place over two days in Squamish, B.C. and will be delivered by instructor trainers Norm Hann and Neil Gilson. All participating instructors must have a current and paid up Paddle Canada membership.


  • To Provide an opportunity for active instructors to maintain their certification.
  • Introduce new program changes and present innovative teaching strategies and ideas.
  • Review teaching elements with respect to benchmarks, evaluation, and assessment.
  • Improve the instructors paddling techniques and teaching ability.
