I am excited to be partnering with Sunova Surfboards to create the All Round Eco Expedition Board. This is a beautiful touring board made of durable Paulownia wood and comes with the Norm Hann Expedition Crest created by Gitxsan artist Bo Smith.
14′ x 27″ x 7″ 306 L 12.8kg
14′ x 28.5 x 7″ 323L 13kg
This board is designed for lake and ocean touring and built to have good glide in the flats yet has a good ocean style nose to be forgiving when moving upwind or downwind. With a parallel outline this board is stable for its width and has a flat deck and tail pad for surfability and carrying gear.
The circular design was created for Norm Hann Expeditions by Gitxsan artist Cash Bo Smith. Bo’s design is represented by a Raven on the left, Bear on the right and Traditional Canoe Paddle in the middle. The Raven has special meaning to Norm as he is adopted into the Raven clan of the Gitga’at people by Eva Hill. The Raven, according to First Nations legend is the creator of man and woman and also brought light to the world. He is known as the trickster and has the ability to change forms. The Bear represents the Great Bear Rainforest and the coastline. Bear traditionally represents strength, family, vitality, courage and health. Known as the Protector of the animal kingdom the Bear is the most powerful coastal animal. The traditional canoe paddle in the middle of the design represents Norm’s traditional name, T’aam L’aan, the Steersman of the canoe, given to him by the Gitga’at peop;e and also represents the ocean and standup paddleboarding.
